Paradise of Panic

...tonight I caught the end of a Globe Trekker episode recorded in Venice, and it reminded me of my own visit to Venezia just a few weeks ago...a labyrinth of alleyways, hidden plazas, and cobbled paths, along with canals that snake their way to the laguna, Venice feels like a city that does not exist...

...a city of fantasy.

...as with every city I visited in Europe this summer, I totally lucked out on the hotel I found: I had a penthouse with a balcony overlooking the laguna...each morning I watched the cruiseships and gondolas float by, and every night I walked along the water beside anchored yachts while watching Piazza San Marco come alive with lovers, musicians, and fellow travelers...the surreal nights in this city by the sea reminded me so much of Tidus' "dream" on the outskirts of Zanarkand near the midpoint of Final Fantasy X: International...just look at this picture from my balcony:

...I'm already making plans to return to Venezia...

...I just hope it's there when I return ^_^
