...today I ran into the ex-pat that's been so hospitable to me since I got here. Today she was with a friend from Australia that works in documentary films and now lives in Paris with her French spouse. I was dressed up for a visit to the Cour d'Appel (Court of Appeals) of Toulouse, and apparently I clean up well because the ex-pat's friend showered me with compliments. I never know what to do in those situations: someone you just met tells you how gorgeous you dress and how eloquently you speak (surprised?), and you can only blush ^_^ (it's good to be appreciated loly)...
...we talked for a moment about the film and music classes I'm taking in Toulouse and the Olympic sports course I finished in Nanjing, and she was convinced that I was Hollywood-bound. I was more interested in her work with documentaries since, as she explained, the crews and production teams are so much smaller and, as I mentioned, the content is often more substantial than some big ticket feature films. Based on how I explained my entertainment law dreams and engineering background, she made me feel like I should consider a career in LA. So strange...all the exposure to these Californians is making the west coast evermore intriguing...time will tell ;) Meanwhile, just as visiting China fostered my love for tea, living in France has helped me develop a deeper appreciation for wine, cheese, and bread (especially fresh croissants [/joy]) more than ever. With not much else to eat, it was bound to happen ;)

Yours,
