...let me be the first to say that Tokyo is the LAST place a non-single person needs to live.
*takes a drink*
...maybe you don't appreciate how profound (and understated) a statement that is ... beware and be aware that the girls in this city are classy, well-dressed, and gorgeous ... and dangerously so! ...there must be some unwritten rule hidden in the Meiji Constitution that every woman in Japan wear boots, stockings, and short skirts daily, because that's all I ever see (granted, I LIVE in Shibuya and commute each day to within eyesight of Tokyo Tower, but this HAS to be more than a coincidence!)...
...for anyone that is from, lives in, or has lived in any big city, the concept of finding and doing whatever you want can't be too far-fetched ... frankly, this is a city of dreams, and if you have the wherewithal, vision, or creativity to take advantage of it, you likely will get drawn into in the Tokyo underworld and never stop asking for more ^_^
...suffice it to say that Tokyoite's LOVE New York City, most likely because it's the only city on Earth (besides San Francisco, I'd imagine) that is so vast and untamed that someone from this corner of the globe could leave here and not be incredibly wanting (I've only been to NYC twice, most recently in October, and my instincts tell me I'm right about this)...
...on another tangent, everything about Tokyo feels so utterly space-age: from the way technology is so engrained in everyday life, to the way everyone dresses like this is Paris, to the way structure and tradition pervade each waking hour (while after-hours drift between daydream and nightmare) ... this January, Australia was my 15 country, but Japan (#14) still feels like the defintive otherworld...
...the sad part is that I can't even put it into words unless you see it for yourself, especially if you see it with a soldier of fortune like myself...
...should we be so lucky? ^_^
Yours,
Khamsin
